December Training Camps 2010 Camp Time for another camp!! This one will be slightly different to last year’s camp and is slightly earlier in the year. Hopefully the change in format and timing will assist everyone with families so as to minimise the impact on life outside of training whilst still fitting in with racing goals as well. The rides will be shortened to 5.5hrs and everyone will start and finish together. By starting each day at 5am we will be done at a time which will allow you to spend most of the day with your family or stay behind and chill out with us and discuss goals for 2011 and the ways of achieving them. There will be a bbq on each Saturday and a chance on both days for you to let your legs recover in the pool. The overall classification and mountains jerseys will be back and hopefully this fact alone will be enough to entice Purvis back into the fold. We might even pay him appearance money as there is nothing better than watching a 95kg unit pick up the mountains jersey. The camp will be run over three consecutive weekends being 13/14, 20/21 and 27/28 November. You can come to as many sessions as you like. You can also bring as many friends along as you want. Cost for each session is $20 and you just throw that in the box when you arrive. No need to commit in advance but it would be good to know rough numbers when we get towards the end of October so that we can cater properly for all the food/drink on the rides and the bbq afterwards. If you can make the 6 sessions then I assure you that you will be in good shape for the summer season that follows. I’ve put the rough itinerary below so you can prepare yourself physically and mentally and give me any suggestions you might have to make it better. Rough Itinerary will be : Sat Nov 13 – Ride as a group to Samford along Eatons Crossing Road. “Points section” (“PS”) Ride via Goat Track to T intersection at Mt Glorious which heads back to Samford. Overall Points for first five placings at left turn to Goat track. First 8 placings at T intersection get both overall points and mountains classification “MC” points. Cruise back into Samford and refuel and regroup. Neutral section to top of Closeburn hill and then second PS ride to top of Mt Mee. First five to Winery get overall points and first eight to top get both MC and overall points. Cruise back into Dayboro for refuel. Sat Nov 27- Group ride around Nundah crit track to see how many kms we can get up in 5.5hrs. If you are dropped then you can get back on when you are caught again but you can’t assist with the pace. Aim will be to support each other as a group and not lose anyone and keep the pace as close to 40km/hr as possible. 200km might be a dream but its an achievable one with the right conditions and attitude. This will be dependant upon the track being available. If not, we will do a group ride from Nundah to Raby Bay via Wynnum over the new bridge. (no points on offer today). Sun Nov 28 – Group ride to Mt Mee with 5 repeats of Mt Mee from Winery. Half points will be awarded in both categories for the first 8 riders to the top for every single repeat.
